Tell us some good news, Punxsutawney Phil! With recent snowstorms hitting the east coast and midwest the past week, many Americans are looking forward to an early spring. Hopefully, Phil can deliver some good news Tuesday morning.
Now in case you don’t know the power of this little groundhog, we can fill you in. Each year on Feb. 2, Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his home to predict if we will have an early spring or six more weeks of winter.

Tradition says Phil seeing his shadow is a sign that the next six weeks will continue to bring wintry weather to the US. If Phil doesn’t see his shadow, it means an early spring is on the horizon.
And yes, some sportsbooks have odds on Phil seeing his shadow – or not!
According to US-Bookies.com, Punxsutawney Phil has 11/4 odds to see his shadow on Groundhog Day. The odds that he does not see his shadow are 1/3 (75%), indicating a much more likely scenario.
So if the heavy favorite wins and Phil does not see his shadow, it looks like we could be in for an early spring. Let’s hope so. Of course, you have to take these odds with a grain of salt as they are meant for fun. However, we have seen patrons wager on stranger things!
When will Phil’s fearless prediction happen? At approximately 7:20 a.m. ET on Feb. 2, Punxsutawney Phil will make his prediction at Gobbler’s Knob. For all of us who have had enough of winter, here’s to hoping Phil doesn’t see his shadow!
