NFL Playoffs Divisional Round: Schedule, Odds, Best Bets For Lions vs Commanders, Chiefs vs. Texans
The NFL Playoffs divisional round is finally set to go! With two games on Saturday and two on Sunday, we will soon know which teams will battle it out next weekend for the conference championships. The NFL’s version of the Elite Eight will get underway today when the Chiefs take on the Texans at 4:30 pm ET followed by the Lions hosting the Commanders at 8 pm ET.
Who will win these big games today? We think we know! It’s simple, yet oh so cliche. The team that plays better defense, and special teams and does NOT turn the ball over will win. So you can take all the stats, hype or NFL magic you want and throw it out the window.
Once the ball is snapped, it’s game on!
The day Super Bowl 58 ended, we made our “Way too early Super Bowl 59 prediction” – so far it’s still looking good. You can check out that pick from 11 months ago right here.
As for today, let’s get down to business.
NFL Playoffs Divisional Round Schedule
Texans vs. Chiefs (-8.5) — 4:30 pm. ET
The Chiefs are the Chiefs. Until someone in the AFC proves otherwise, this team is the best in the conference. As Patrick Mahomes and Co. gear up for a shot at a 3-peat, they can’t look past the Houston Texans. They won’t.
Houston played well in their win over the Chargers last week. However, they will face a much different animal this week in Kansas City. The spread seems a bit high, especially for a Chiefs team that is not good at covering the number.
Vegas sports books have gotten so good at laying the number in the NFL it is almost scary. 8.5, 9 or 9.5, it doesn’t matter. Basically, Nevada is telling you that they think KC wins by 2 scores. So do we!
Pick – KC -8.5
Commanders vs Lions (-9.5)
The underdog Washington Commanders were the lone road team to win last week in the Wild Card round. Behind rookie QB Jayden Daniels, Washington has been the feel-good surprise team of 2024. They have loads of talent and they are definitely now playing with house money.
However, I can not bet against Dan Campbell and those knee-biting Detroit Lions!
Just like the Chiefs game, the line here seems a bit high. While I do worry about a late TD or FG keeping to a one-score game, I still can’t wager on a Washington team that I don’t believe can win.
Pick — Lions -9.5
