XFL Championship Game 2023 Odds: Renegades vs. Defenders Start Time & How to Watch
After an exciting return to the football field, the XFL Championship Game 2023 is set! The semifinals recently determined two squads to battle it out at Texas’ Alamodome. While the St. Louis Battlehawks were the favorites to win the XFL 2023 title, they won’t be in the championship matchup.
This year’s matchup pits the Arlington Renegades against the DC Defenders for the rebooted league’s championship following two fantastic games this past weekend. We’ve got your full rundown on when and where to watch the game and the latest XFL odds for who should win it all.
Renegades and Defenders to meet in XFL’s title game
The DC Defenders proved they were the team to beat this 2023 XFL season, losing just one game all season for a 9-1 record and a points differential of +58. Their lone loss came in Week 7 to the Orlando Guardians by only a point. DC took care of business this past Sunday with a convincing 37-21 win over Seattle in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Arlington surprised everyone late. Despite a disappointing losing record of 4-6 this season, they got into the playoffs and defeated the Houston Roughnecks 26-11 on Saturday in the semifinals.
These two teams battled in an intense Week 9 game that saw them tied at the end of regulation, taking it into overtime. In the extra sessions, the Defenders went ahead 28-26 and then prevented the Renegades from tying it to win the game. Check out the full recap below to see what went down.
Defenders and Renegades feature plenty of statistical stars
The Defenders are led by quarterback Jordan Ta’amu who finished third in the XFL this season for passing yards with 1,894 yards on 143 completions out of 229 attempts. Among QBs with 100-plus attempts, he led the league with yards per attempt with 8.3 yards per attempt. He finished third in touchdowns thrown with 14.
The Renegades’ Luis Perez was fourth in total yards with 1,636 on 149-of-224 completed passes. He also threw nine touchdowns but had seven picks.
Both teams also boast great running backs, with DC’s Abram Smith leading the league with his 791 yards over 10 games. His 70-yard run was the longest of any player this season, and he also ran for seven TDs.
The Renegades have RB De’Veon Smith, who finished 365 yards and seven touchdowns on his 115 attempts. Arlington also has a star tight end in Sal Cannella, who had 42 receptions for 415 yards but didn’t record a single TD this season.
The most surprising disparity between these two teams is scoring. The DC Defenders led the XFL with 33 total touchdowns this past season, while the Renegades had only 12, the worst of all teams.
