Tom Brady Reveals Why He Left New England
Fans of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have been wondering what actually tipped the scales for Brady’s final decision to leave the New England Patriots and sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason.
Money? A long deal? The lack of wideout help? No, it wasn’t any of those issues. It seems Brady was tired of his rocky relationship with his offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
Brady was reportedly “worn out” by offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels after 12 seasons together, a source told NFL reporter Gary Myers.
It is interesting that Brady would reveal that his growing apart from McDaniels was the final straw, especially considering the kind words McDaniels shared after Brady departed.
“Although I feel a great sadness knowing that he is leaving the Patriots, I am grateful for the years we were together and beyond blessed to call him my friend. He has made an indelible impact on my life and career and I will forever be in his debt.
He defined what it means to be a ‘Patriot.’ He is the best quarterback to ever play in the NFL. I wish him nothing but great happiness and success in all that he does. There will never be another Tom Brady.”
Brady reportedly wanted more input into weekly game plans and wasn’t confident in trusting his wide receivers in 2019 according to Myers.
Outside of star WR Julian Edelman, Brady had Phillip Dorsett, N’Keal Harry, Mohamed Sanu, and Jakobi Meyers. Not exactly the core wideouts in the league.
Brady and McDaniels seemed to be the perfect fit, however, in the end, Brady had enough.
