Sweet 16 Bracket: Schedule, Updated Odds To Win NCAA Championship 2022 – Cinderella Saint Peter’s Still Dancing
The Sweet 16 bracket is set! If you have a perfect bracket – heck, if you have just one or two losses, you are a college hoops guru! You also may be lying, but we will trust you and go with guru! It is not too often that a No. 10, two No. 11’s AND a No. 15 make up four of the spots in the Sweet 16. However, this year they do.
Sweet 16 bracket provides plenty of surprises
No doubt about it, this year Cinderella lives in the northeast. The pride of Jersey City, New Jersey, the Saint Peter’s Peacocks are the talk of the NCAA Tournament. They represent all that is good in college basketball in terms of an “us vs, the world” mentality. These kids don’t care who they face, they have already shown that they are up for the challenge!
St. Peter’s knocked off No. 2 seeded Kentucky in the first round then went on to defeat No. 7 Murray State in round two. If the Peacocks win this tournament, they will be the biggest underdog in sports history to take home a championship.
These odds are staggering. Saint Peter’s entered the tournament with +10000 odds to make the Sweet 16 per DraftKings Sportsbook. Re-read that in case you missed it. Those odds are to make it to the Sweet 16 – not win the title. Those odds one week ago were at +50000.
Their title odds resemble Donald Trump’s in 2015 to win the Presidency.
The Peacocks are now a modest +10000 to +12000 to cut down the nets in early April, depending on which sportsbook you look at. Those are still some nice odds for a 16-team field.
Updated odds, Schedule
While St. Peter’s is a great story, let’s not forget about a few other longshots that are still alive and kicking. Two No. 11 seeds in Michigan and Iowa State, along with the No. 10 seed in the Midwest bracket, the Miami Hurricanes, all look like they have a shot at making the Elite Eight.
Of the three aforementioned seeds, the Michigan Wolverines may have the biggest chip on their shoulder. Sure, they will have a tough road ahead against the Villanova Wildcats, but after hearing all of the groans from fans and NCAA experts that they didn’t deserve to even be in the tourney they have showed up in a big way.
The 11-seeded Wolverines defeated No. 6 Colorado State in round one then took out a powerhouse in the No. 3 Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday.
So even if your bracket is busted, like mine, take a deep breath NCAA fans. All of the action is on pause until Thursday, March 24. This weekend should provide us another chance to watch more thrilling buzzer-beating games – and more money-making opportunities!
