Big Ten 2020 Week 7 Odds: Spartans Look To Upset Ohio State; Huskers, Boilermakers Battle For Key Win

The Big Ten 2020 football schedule moves forward on Saturday, December 5 with five games on the slate including a battle of ranked opponents. Among the squads in action will be the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes looking to avoid defeat at the hands of Michigan State. Also, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will try to turn around their season after a 1-4 start as they take on Purdue. Here’s a look at what’s on tap for the conference this weekend along with the latest game odds.

Buckeyes look to stay undefeated, if they play

The undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes were atop the Big Ten 2020 Championship odds ahead of their games. OSU currently sits at No. 4 in the polls but needs to make sure they play enough games to qualify for the conference title.

OSU looks to keep a zero in the loss column as they travel to East Lansing to take on Michigan State on Saturday. The Spartans are currently 2-3 overall and coming off an upset over No. 8 Northwestern, 29-20 on November 28.

However, the Buckeyes haven’t played since November 21st, and COVID-19 concerns continue with this team. ESPN recently reported that OSU was flying to Michigan for the game. They’re currently favored to win by more than three touchdowns, assuming they are able to play. Defensive line coach Larry Johnson will man the sidelines due to head coach Ryan Day testing positive for COVID-19.

Michigan State could look to exploit OSU’s pass defense in this game. The Buckeyes are currently ranked 10th overall in the conference for the category. That said, the Buckeyes are 24-point favorites as of our report. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time on ABC.

Huskers battle Purdue, Indiana and Wisconsin to face off

In addition to that OSU vs. MSU matchup, two more games will kick off at 12 p.m. Eastern Time. The Nebraska Cornhuskers take on Purdue at Ross-Ade Stadium (BTN) and Penn State battles Rutgers in New Jersey (FS1). None of these teams has a winning record now, but they’ll all try to get closer to even on Saturday.

The Boilermakers are currently a very small home favorite at -2 with a -130 money line price. Bettors looking for a possible Cornhuskers’ upset can look at the spread, or a +110 Moneyline bet for a straight-up win.

Both teams were in action recently, with both losing close games. Of the contests, Nebraska fell 26-20 at No. 24 Iowa while Purdue lost by a touchdown to Rutgers at home. Huskers head coach Scott Frost gave an update on the status of running back Dedrick Mills’ availability for the game.

At 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time, two more games will wrap up this weekend’s Big Ten schedule. Three ranked teams from the Top 25 are featured. In Wisconsin, the No. 16 Badgers will host the No. 12 Indiana Hoosiers (ABC). Meanwhile, at Champaign’s Memorial Stadium, the No. 19 Iowa Hawkeyes take on unranked Illinois (FS1).
