AP Top 25 poll, Updated CFB Championship Odds: Iowa State, Coastal Carolina Stay Hot

The latest college football AP Top 25 poll arrived on Sunday, and while the top four teams came as no surprise, two teams that weren’t expected to be threats this season are proving they are the real deal.

AP Top 25 poll sees Iowa State, Coastal Carolina continue climb

Iowa State continued their hot play as they destroyed the Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday by the final score of 42-6. The win propelled the Cyclones to the No. 10 spot in the country and assured them a trip to the Big-12 title game.  With another win and a possible Big 12 title in reach, can Iowa State become a top-five team when all is said and done?

Followed right behind the Cyclones is Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers remain undefeated following their huge upset of then No. 8 BYU. Now a perfect 10-0, how can CC not be the feel-good story of the year?

The Cougars have fallen out of the Top 10 following their first loss of the season.

Overall, four teams fell out of the Top 25 after tasting defeat in Week 14. Those teams include Marshall, Oklahoma State, Oregon, and Washington. Jumping into the ranks are No. 20 North Carolina, No. 21 Colorado, No. 23 Texas, and No. 24 Buffalo.

Alabama, Clemson still heavy favorites

With the CFP format, realistically only 4-6 teams have a legit shot to win the championship this January. So, unless an upset or two happens over the final weeks, that four-team race will come down to Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Clemson.

Needless to say, that is why those four teams are listed as the favorites to capture the crown. Can say a Florida, Iowa State, or OU sneak into the playoffs and pull off the upset? You never know.
