Florida Derby, Arkansas Derby Results & Payouts 2024: Odds, Post Positions, And Start Times For Kentucky Derby Prep Races

The Kentucky Derby Prep races continue today, Saturday, March 30 with two of the biggest races on the annual schedule – the Florida Derby and the Arkansas Derby. With key points waiting in the wings for the top three horses, a trip to the Kentucky Derby is on the line!

Florida Derby

Up first is the Florida Derby. The annual stakes race will once again take place at Gulfstream Park. The horse that finishes in first place will gain 100 qualifying points towards the Run for the Roses. The top five finishers this afternoon will all gain points but finishing in the top three is the goal. The breakdown of points is as follows.

100 for the winner. 50 points will go to the place horse while the show will receive 25. 15 points will be awarded to the fourth-place horse while 10 points will go to the horse that finishes in fifth place.

If things play out as expected, heavy favorites Hades, Conquest Warrior, and Fierceness will be battling it out for the winner’s circle. The field along with the current odds are listed below.

Arkansas Derby

On the heels of the Florida Derby the Arkansas Derby will take center stage. As always, the big race will take place from Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

CBS Sports reports Rebel Stakes winner Timberlake can establish himself as one of the leading contenders for the Kentucky Derby when he leaves the starting gate in the 2024 Arkansas Derby on Saturday at Oaklawn Park.

Timberlake is trained by Brad Cox, who is on a roll at Oaklawn. Cox has won the last two runnings of the Arkansas Derby. Add to that Timberlake has three wins and one second in six career starts, and you can see why is the horse to beat.

Win or lose today, Timberlake is already one of the top five future book favorites for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 4.

The Florida Derby is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. ET and will air live on CNBC. The Arkansas Derby post time is set for 7:47 p.m. ET and will be available on FOX Sports.com/live. It will also air live on FS2.
