How the Knicks Won Their First Title in 53 Years
The Knicks completed a remarkable postseason run that culminated in defeating the San Antonio Spurs in five games during the NBA Finals.
After years of playoff heartbreak, New York closed out the series in Game 5 with a 94-90 comeback victory on the road. Led by Finals MVP Jalen Brunson, the Knicks captured their first championship since 1973 and delivered the franchise’s first title celebration for an entire generation of fans.
The championship also marks the first time the Knicks will receive a traditional ticker-tape parade. When the franchise won titles in 1970 and 1973, New York City never held a Canyon of Heroes celebration for the team.
