Tom Brady Madden Ratings: Bucs QB Makes Case for Upgrade After Tony Romo Remarks
After being called slow on the field, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady showed that isn’t necessarily the case. In a brand new video, the Bucs QB is suggesting the Madden ratings adjustors may need to upgrade his speed. That comes on the heels of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suggesting the 44-year-old Super Bowl champion isn’t as quick as others.
Tom Brady Madden ratings upgrade?
In EA’s Madden 22 game, Tom Brady is nowhere near the fastest of the quarterbacks. That would go to former cover star Lamar Jackson who boasts a blazing fast 96 rating for Speed. The highest possible is 99 OVR, typically reserved for special legends in different modes.
Other quarterbacks up in the speed ratings include Kyler Murray (91 OVR), Josh Allen (86 OVR), and Russell Wilson (85 OVR). Meanwhile, Brady has just a 71 OVR for his Speed rating. As longtime fans know, Tom Brady relies on his passing precision and power in the pocket, not his mobility so much.
This past Sunday’s Buccaneers vs. Bills game brought comments from Tony Romo who was covering the game and referred to Brady as “slow.” During the game, Brady had a season-high 13 rushing yards. In a video below, Brady makes his case to Tony Romo and Peyton Manning, showing off the game highlights.
Over a week ago, Brady’s NFL rival Peyton Manning got to play ratings adjustor and decided to tweak timeless Tom a bit. He had some fun by moving him down to a 44 overall rating to match his age in Week 12. Brady was moved back to his proper 98 OVR rating for Week 13.
Ahead of the EA video game’s release, Brady was named a co-cover star alongside his Super Bowl opponent, Patrick Mahomes. It made for the second time both players were featured on the Madden cover during their careers.
Super Bowl and MVP odds favor Bucs, Brady
While Brady is having some fun trying to get his Madden ratings adjusted, the bigger goal is still at hand. The Bucs are still reigning NFL champions and looking to repeat. Based on Vegas Insider’s odds, Tampa Bay is a +500 favorite to win the Super Bowl in 2022. Here’s a look at the top 10:
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers +500
- Kansas City Chiefs +650
- Green Bay Packers +700
- Arizona Cardinals +750
- New England Patriots +750
- Buffalo Bills +1000
- Los Angeles Rams +1000
- Dallas Cowboys +1200
- Baltimore Ravens +1600
- Tennessee Titans +2200
Meanwhile, the NFL MVP race has Tom Brady currently leading all contenders. The Bucs QB wins $150 on a $100 wager, according to Odds Shark (Dec. 3). Right behind Brady is the Bills’ Josh Allen, and Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers.
The top 10 MVP contenders, per future odds:
- Tom Brady +150
- Josh Allen +450
- Aaron Rodgers +650
- Kyler Murray +800
- Patrick Mahomes +1200
- Dak Prescott +1400
- Matthew Stafford +1500
- Lamar Jackson +1500
- Jonathan Taylor +1500
- Justin Herbert +1800
We still think that speed rating needs a bump for the Tom Brady Madden ratings. However, the bigger picture for Brady is probably his Bucs repeating as Super Bowl champs. Once the playoff picture arrives, we should have a better idea of the path Tampa Bay will need to get there. In the meantime, Tom will need to settle for a slower speed in Madden 22 than most of his colleagues.
