Washington Commanders: New NFL Football Team Name, Logo Leaked Online
Here come the Washington Commanders? The team formerly known as the Washington Redskins has a new name. We think. While the new Washington Football Team name hasn’t been officially revealed, it seems that the secret is out.
If reports are correct, 2022 will welcome in the Washington Commanders era.
According to Sportslogos.net, the NFL franchise is scheduled to officially announce its new nickname, logos, and uniforms on Wednesday morning. However, several Nike shirts were making their rounds on Twitter on Tuesday night that featured Washington’s new “W” logo and the Commanders nickname.
Brad Freitas’ chopper shot over Fed Ex Field titled “#SpoilerAlert” seemed to get a very clear view of the WFT’s new name.
If that quick video isn’t convincing enough, this tweet from Chris Bryant showing off some new merch seems to be another smoking gun that the Washington Commanders will be arriving this fall.
Ah, good ol social media. Uncovering things is what most folks go to Twitter for. In this case, it seems the cat is out of the bag.
It was back in July of 2020 when the Washington franchise announced that they were changing their name. When they couldn’t come to an agreement on a new name at that time, they decided to just go by the “Washington Football Team” for the past two seasons.
Now it seems they are ready to usher in a new era this week as the Commanders.
What do you think NFL fans? Does the new name have appeal, or does it fall flat?
