XFL 2023 Teams: Which Cities Will Get Teams for XFL Reopening?

The good news for XFL fans is the league is coming back! The bad news? The return of the XFL will not happen in 2022 as first thought. If things go to the latest plan, the new revamped league will once again hit the gridiron in 2023. Now the big question on fans’ minds is will their city have a team to cheer for in 2023? Let’s break down the latest reports.

XFL 2023 – Will the old teams return?

As we reported earlier this week, all signs point towards the return of the XFL in March of 2023. With that development, the fans who lived in cities that had an XFL team back in 2020 are wondering if they will once again have a squad to cheer for. In case you forgot, which we know you didn’t, we provided a video below of some of the best moments from 2020, and by the look of the crowd sizes, the league was well on its way to becoming successful.

On that note, tons of questions and rumors are still out there for the upcoming season. Will the league expand its 8-team format to 10 or 12 in 2023? What about a possible merge with the CFL – or even a team in Mexico or Canada entering the league?

Those rumors, along with a ton more, have all been floating around the internet for some time now. Unfortunately, at this time, all fans can do is wait for updates.

Which cities will be in the action?

So which cities will support an XFL team in March of 2023? Well, what do know is back in 2020, eight cities were selected to revamp the league and most were very successful.

Houston and St. Louis were not only successful on the field, but they also had a great fan base. It would be a shock not to see teams return there.

DC, New York, Dallas, and LA also did well. While Seattle and Tampa Bay both finished at the bottom of their respected division, crowd atmosphere and the love for watching football was in tact.

To be fair, all eight cities should once again have a team in 2023. However, here is our pick of four cities that we believe would do well in the XFL.

Detroit — With the USFL returning this spring, fans in Motown remember the great success that the Michigan Panthers had. Michiganders love football. If an XFL team was added in Detroit, it would be go over in a big way.

Chicago — Like Detroit, this is a no-brainer. An original XFL team from over 20 years ago, it is time to bring back the Chicago Enforcers.

Las Vegas — The city where it ALL began! Vegas is growing quickly in the sports world and an XFL reboot would be perfect. Let’s not forget, this is where Vince made his famous “This is the XFL!” statement to the huge crowd on opening night!

Iowa – The true underdog city on this list. Outside of the Hawkeyes, this state is starving for more sports! A midwest city would be a perfect location for the XFL to branch out and what better place to put that team than in the heartland of Iowa?
