Aaron Rodgers, Packers Set To Part Ways? All-Pro QB ‘Uncertain About Future’ With Green Bay

Aaron Rodgers seemed like a different man following the Packers 31-26 loss to Tampa Bay in Sunday’s NFC title game.

Losing a Super Bowl berth at home is always painful. However, after this loss, Rodgers left the fans and media wondering if his time is over in Green Bay.

Aaron Rodgers not a happy camper

Losing always hurts in the NFL, especially in the postseason. With the game on the line, you always have to go with a strong veteran, right? That is exactly the opposite of what Green Bay did Sunday night.

Down 8, with just over two minutes left in the game, fans were stunned at what the Packers did. Inside the 10 yard-line, Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur decided to kick a field goal and not go for the touchdown.

While LaFleur backed his decision after the contest, fans and media took to social media voicing their disgust.

When Rodgers was asked about the choice to go for the field goal and not the touchdown, you could feel his dismay.

Rodgers said “it wasn’t my decision to make.” Reading between the lines it’s obvious Rodgers did not agree with the decision made by LaFleur.

End of an era in Green Bay?

Is it possible that the Aaron Rodgers era is over in Green Bay? While Rodgers has two years remaining on his current deal he sounded like a man who may be ready to move on.

“[The Packers have] a lot of guys’ futures that are uncertain — myself included,” Rodgers said as part of an answer about how different the team could look next season and what the 2020 campaign meant to him. That’s what’s sad about it, most, getting this far. Obviously, it’s going to be an end at some point, whether we make it past this one or not, but just the uncertainty’s tough and finality of it all.”

Mike Florio of NBC Sports indicated that there is a possibility that Aaron Rodgers will play elsewhere in 2021. It would be hard to picture that scenario, and most Packers fans don’t want to.

Rodgers, who is scheduled to become a free agent in 2024, will make just north of $25 million per season in 2022 and 2023.
