Detroit Tigers Become First MLB Team To Sign Sports Betting Deal
The Detroit Tigers made a bit of history today, that is if you like wagering on pro baseball!
Online sports betting coming to Comerica Park
The Tigers are a long shot to win the 2020 World Series. However, fans in Motown will now have a chance to wager on their team right from the stadium.
On Thursday the Tigers officially became the first MLB team to sign with a sports betting sponsor.
PointsBet sportsbook will become the official sponsor of the Tigers in terms of all things gambling. The deal has the Ilitch family very excited.
“Our great fans will enjoy the unique experiences and innovative offerings that PointsBet’s personalized platform provides,” Chris Granger of Ilitch Holdings said.
“As we usher in legal and responsible sports betting, we look forward to the fan-friendly enhancements that it will make to the game-day experience in and around Comerica Park.”
Sign of the times
With sports gambling becoming legal in many states, including Michigan, this move should come as no surprise.
PointsBets advertising will be displayed at Comerica Park. The sportsbook will also get quite a bit of airtime mentions during the Tigers broadcasts.
In case you were wondering, the Tigers are near the bottom of favorites to win the Fall Classic.
The positive? If they shocked the baseball world in 2020 and you happened to have wagered on them you would score big!
