Kentucky Derby Prep Races 2022: Jeff Ruby Steaks, Florida, Arkansas Derby – Field, Odds, How To Watch Live And Pay Results

The Kentucky Derby prep races are in high gear! This weekend three of the biggest races of the season will take place. We are talking about the Florida Derby, Jeff Ruby Steaks, and the Arkansas Derby.

Kentucky Derby Prep Races

For horse racing enthusiasts, this Saturday can be compared to championship weekend in the NFL. The Jeff Ruby Steaks, along with the Florida and Arkansas Derby are must-see action. With 100 points going to the winning horse of each race, this weekend will help shape the field for the annual Run for the Roses this May.

According to America’s Best Racing, the marquee events will kick off with the $1 million, Grade 1 Curlin Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park. Later Saturday evening, Oaklawn Park will run the $1.25 million, Grade 1 Arkansas Derby, which this year is moved up two weeks from its normal spot on the calendar.

Also, let’s not forget the Grade 3 Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway Park in northern Kentucky. Each of these preps distributes Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top four finishers on a 100-40-20-10 scale.

So as we mentioned above, crossing that finish line first and claiming those 100 points today can turn a horse’s season around in a hurry.
