NBA Championship Odds 2020: Which Teams Will Compete For The Title And Who Is Favored?
It’s offical! The NBA will be returning this summer to complete the 2019-2020 season.
NBA return official following vote
According to ESPN, the NBA board of governors voted Thursday to approve a 22-team format to restart the 2019-20 season July 31 in Orlando, Florida, the league announced.
The vote, which was approved by a whopping 29-1 result, means the league can now officially move forward and complete this very long and bizarre season that was interrupted by COVID-19.
The only team to vote against the proposal was the Portland Trailblazers.
“The Board’s approval of the restart format is a necessary step toward resuming the NBA season,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. “While the COVID-19 pandemic presents formidable challenges, we are hopeful of finishing the season in a safe and responsible manner based on strict protocols now being finalized with public health officials and medical experts. We also recognize that as we prepare to resume play, our society is reeling from recent tragedies of racial violence and injustice, and we will continue to work closely with our teams and players to use our collective resources and influence to address these issues in very real and concrete ways.”
Who’s favored?
Before COVID-19 stopped the sports world, the LA Lakers were cruising along in the Western Conference – and they have been tabbed as the team to beat.
With the Lakers the 5/2 favorite, the only two other teams that have a shot at the crown according to gaming exerts are the Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers.
After the Bucks and Clippers 3/1 odds, the rest of the league has some nice payout opportunities.
Is this the year that the “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks bring home the title or will LeBron bring the Trophy back to LA?
Or will they both be dreaming of what could have been and a long shot of 16/1 or higher walk away as champs?
