World Series Odds 2020: These Teams Could Surprise In A Short Season Schedule
Will there be any MLB games in 2020? What looked so promising just a week or two ago has now hit a big-time snag.
With several ideas being thrown around from the players union and MLB commissioner Rob Manford that include an 82-game season to possibly a 50+game campaign with extended playoff teams, right now fans are still being held in limbo on what lies ahead in terms of this season.
That being said, if the season is played, it will be at least 50-percent shorter than normal – making all those Las Vegas long shots look very tempting.
Here are three teams to keep an eye on that could pay off big in 2020.
Longshots to watch
We all know that the New York Yankees, LA Dodgers, and Houston Astros are heavy favorites to win their division and the World Series, but the average gambler can’t make a nice profit off of them.
You can make a bundle off any of these three teams, and they all have a legit shot in our humble opinion.
Milwaukee Brewers (+3300) — The additions of Justin Smoak and Avisail Garcia will beef up a lineup that already boasts of stars Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, and Eric Sogard. They will be one tough team to beat down the stretch.
Detroit Tigers (+50000) — No, this is not a misprint. The smart money is on Detroit to win the AL Central at +10000. Why? Let’s see…a short season, they are healthy, and this team has changed a ton since 2019. Adding CJ Cron, Austin Romine, and Jonathan Schoop gives Miguel Cabrera some threats in the lineup behind him. Detroit also resigned former Tiger Cameron Maybin – who is a very solid under the radar player.
Will they win the World Series in 2020? Probably not. However, those AL Central divisional odds are mighty tempting.
San Diego Padres (+4500) San Diego’s lineup is much more impressive than it was just a few seasons ago. Now adding Tommy Pham to a lineup that includes Eric Hosmer, Manny Machado, and a healthy Fernando Tatis Jr., and this team could be tougher than thought in the NL West.
Never doubt
Yes, the three aforementioned teams are long shots, but remember this – if every favorite won, why wouldn’t every sports fan in the world just gamble for a living?
Everyone loves a great underdog story, especially when it helps boost your bank account in the process.
