College Football Futures 2025: Three Take It To The Bank Wagers Worth Locking In Now – Big Ten Style

College Football futures are heating up! With the 2025 college football season quickly approaching, it’s not just fans and players preparing for kickoff—bettors are getting ready, too. While our weekly picks and best bets will be back in full force again this season, the futures market is what we are focused on right now!

Here are three futures wagers that stand out heading into the 2025 season:

Ohio State Over/Under 10.5 Wins (Best Bet)

The Godfather prop of 2025 is right here! Sure, the Buckeyes are always loaded, but 2025 looks like a reset year in Columbus. Losing 14 players to the NFL Draft—including seven in the first two rounds—is the kind of turnover that even a perennial powerhouse struggles to overcome.

No we haven’t lost our minds. OSU is always good – and they will be good again this season. Just not OVER 10.5 wins good.

Ohio State opens at home against Texas, where they will face QB Arch Manning and one of the nation’s best defenses. Add to that the Buckeyes will be starting a freshman at QB in Julian Sayin, and the perfect storm is set for Ohio Stte to lose their opener of the season – at home nonetheless.

If the Bucks do lose the opener, which I believe they will, they would need to win 11 straight to cash the over. That’s a tough ask with Penn State and Michigan still on the slate.

Yes, they’ll be competitive. But with so many new starters and a brutal schedule, 9–3 or 10–2 feels far more likely than 11–1 for Ohio State this season.

Pick — Ohio State UNDER 10.5 wins

Michigan State Over/Under 5.5 Wins

The Spartans aren’t in the playoff picture in most experts minds, but bettors should keep an eye on their win total. Michigan State opens the 2025 campaignwith three straight home games—Western Michigan, Boston College, and Youngstown State.

Starting 3–0 isn’t guaranteed (BC won’t be a pushover), but winning two of those three feels very realistic. Let us not forget that the Spartans had BC on the ropes last season. The Spartans lost to Boston College 23-19 on the road – a game they were leading for the majority of the contest.

From there, the Spartans only need to scrap together a few Big Ten wins to clear the over. The schedule sets up well enough that a 6–6 or 7-5 season and bowl eligibility is within reach, making Over 5.5 wins one of the most appealing mid-tier futures bets on the board.

I only see MSU getting stronger in year two of the Jonathan Smith era.

Pick — Michigan State OVER 5.5 wins

Michigan Over/Under 9.5 Wins

Across the state, Michigan enters 2025 once again as one of the hunted in the Big Ten. The Wolverines are reloading with another wave of top recruits and could feature a defense as nasty as last year’s unit.

The early-season test comes in Week 2 when they travel to Norman to face Oklahoma. Survive that, and Michigan could realistically start 5–0. With talent across the roster and a proven culture of winning, a 10-win season looks more likely than not.

Over 9.5 wins gives Michigan a little cushion—meaning even with a couple of stumbles against the likes of Penn State or Ohio State, this bet still cashes. However, the reason this play is the LEAST of my favorites out of the three is the QB situation.

ESPN reports true freshman Bryce Underwood has been named Michigan’s starting quarterback, coach Sherrone Moore said Monday. Underwood was highly recruited in HS and had a ton of scouts vying for his talent.

The 6-foot-4, 228-pound Underwood won two state championships with Belleville and won 38 straight games in high school. He also committed to LSU, but flipped to play in front of the hometown fans at Michigan.

Underwood is going to be something special, that’s for sure! But can he lead Michigan to 10 wins? We are leaning yes.

Final Word

Futures betting is about spotting value before the market adjusts. Ohio State’s high total doesn’t match its roster turnover, Michigan State is positioned to exceed low expectations, and Michigan remains a reliable contender with a manageable win total.

Lock these three in before kickoff, because once the first few Saturdays play out, the numbers won’t be this friendly.
