Detroit Lions Frank Ragnow Suffered Fractured Throat Against Green Bay Packers
NFL Injuries happen every week, but here is something you don’t hear often. Detroit Lions star center Frank Ragnow suffered a fractured throat during last weekend’s contest against the Green Bay Packers.
According to the USA Today, NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted out that Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow suffered a fractured throat versus the Green Bay Packers and is vulnerable to miss this week’s game.
A fractured throat? That hurts just saying it! Ragnow must be one tough dude according to these reports.
Apparently, the Lions center suffered the injury in the first quarter of last Sunday’s game but still managed to play the entire contest!
Lions Wire wrote – “According to the National Center of Biotechnology Information (NCBI) this type of injury is very rare, and if/when patients should have surgery is still being debated in the medical community.”
The “Lions are consulting with specialists on this right now,” according to Free Press’ Dave Birkett. “His airway/breathing is fine, and he can eat, but he’s not supposed to talk right now. Trying to determine how much time he’ll need to be out.”
Losing a starter for any football team can be devastating. In this case, the Lions could be losing one of the best-rated centers in the game.
If Ragnow does miss this week’s game against the Titans, the Lions may have to turn to former starting guard Joe Dahl or starting left guard Jonah Jackson. If they need depth, practice squad centers Marcus Martin or Evan Brown may also be on stand by.
