Tim Tebow To Sign Deal With Jacksonville, Reunite With Urban Meyer
Tim Tebow is back in the NFL. The return of Tebow Time will have a much different look this time around as the former Heisman winning quarterback will suit up for the Jags in 2021 as a tight-end.
Tim Tebow returns
The return of Tim Tebow to the National Football League has been swirling for weeks. NFL guru Ian Rapoport is indicating that Tebow is expected to sign a 1-year deal with the Jaguars.
The former Florida Gators star was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2010, but never really got a fair shot at the starting QB job. However, Tebow did have one incredible postseason game in 2011 in which he led the heavy underdog Broncos to an OT win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
NFL.com indicates that after parting ways with the Broncos, Tebow bounced around the NFL for several seasons. He spent one season with the New York Jets back in 2012. Tebow then spent offseasons with the New England Patriots (2013) and Philadelphia Eagles (2015), respectively, before finally walking away from the NFL.
After leaving the NFL, Tebow then went on to chase his baseball dreams. He signed a minor-league deal with the New York Mets back in 2016. While he did have a few shining moments on the diamond, Tebow never caught on with the big club. After five seasons, Tebow recently announced he was retiring from baseball. Now, it seems one more run at the NFL is at hand.
The now 33-year-old Tebow hasn’t played in the NFL in nine years and hasn’t been in a football training camp since 2015. While it will be a long shot for Tebow to make the roster, you just can not underestimate this guy. Who knows, maybe being teamed up once again with Urban Meyer will be just what he needs to prove he still has the talent to play in the NFL.
