Tom Brady reacts after Brown leaves field
On Sunday, January 2, Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the New York Jets, 28-24. However, the win wasn’t easy as the Bucs had to rally after being down by two touchdowns. It featured a bizarre meltdown from Antonio Brown during the third quarter, later explained as his dismissal from the team.
It brought sympathetic comments from Tom Brady following the game, as he expressed wanting Brown to get the support he needs from others during a “difficult situation.”
“It’s obviously a difficult situation and you know I think we all want him to- everybody should find, hopefully, do what they can to help him in ways that he really needs it,” Brady said
“You know we all love him. We care about him deeply. You know, we want to see him be at his best and unfortunately, it won’t be with our team,” TB12 said during the post-game press conference.
“The most important thing about football is the relationship with your friends and teammates and they go beyond the field, and you know, I think everyone should be very compassionate and empathetic towards some very difficult things that are happening,” Brady said.

The Buccaneers were Brown’s third team in his career, as he spent the majority of his early seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, before leaving for the Oakland Raiders. That didn’t work out, as he ended up being dismissed from that team due to a variety of issues.
He’d return to join Tom Brady as a teammate on the New England Patriots in 2019. He participated in just one game with the Pats before
He joined TB12 once again in 2020 as a member of the Tampa Bay Bucs and went on to capture his first Super Bowl ring as a member of the team. The team remains amongst favorites to repeat as champs in the upcoming Super Bowl.
Arians said Brown is ‘no longer part of Bucs’
With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers losing 24-10 in the third quarter, Antonio Brown ripped off his equipment and made hand gestures towards the crowd at the Jets’ game before running off the field and into the back locker room.
When asked about Brown leaving the field after the game, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians didn’t elaborate on what led to the meltdown.
“He is no longer a Buc,” Arians said. “That’s the end of the story. Let’s talk about the guys that went out there and won the game.”
Arians mentioned when talking to Fox Sports post-game that he attempted to get Brown to go into the game. However, Brown refused his request twice. Arians said he told Brown “get out”.
Based on ESPN’s report, Brown was not on the team’s charter flight home after the game.
While the Bucs were down 24-10 as Brown made his surprising exit, they rallied back. With just 21 seconds left in the game, Tom Brady came up with another of his highlight TD passes, finding wide receiver Cyril Grayson to claim the lead.
Brady also said he didn’t realize Brown was dismissed from the team until after the game had ended. A video has surfaced on YouTube showing the entire sequence of Brown leaving the field.
